Head coach of Bariga Professional Football Club, Joseph Olamiju has admitted that his boys were unlucky to have lost the CY Unity Cup final played recently at the Airforce Base sports center, Ikeja, Lagos.
Shuffle Select Football Academy of Abule-Egba defeated Bariga Professional 5-4 on penalty shootout after barren draw at the regulation time.
Olamiju who was disappointed with the team’s defeat commended his boys for his commitment and doggedness but noted that they were unlucky to lose the at the regulation time.
“It was a painful defeat because we did not deserve to lose to our opponents.We dominated the game unfortunately my players failed to convert their chances.
“Having said this, I still commend them for their tactical play and doggedness showed throughout the encounter.I congratulate our opponents for their victory despite the fact they were not better than us in the field of play,”he said.
In his own comment, secretary of the club, Tope Alabi admitted that the boys have their best unfortunately they lost through penalties.
“It was a disappointing outing for us because we had the chance to win the game at the regulation time sadly we could not win the trophy for our fans,”he said.
