Fast-rising Nigerian female tennis talent, Barakat Oyinlomo Quadri says she aims to help the country gain top ratings in Africa and the world by working hard to make stronger impressions next year.
Speaking against the backdrop of another glorious year for her in the West African and national circuits, Barakat told sports247.ng that her rating as one of Nigeria’s next gen is a challenge she gladly accepts.
In spite of fears that she may not be able to live up to expectation and buckle under pressure, Barakat stressed that she has taken up the duty of leading Nigeria to reckoning at both continental and global levels.
Barakat, who is currently ranked 343 in the ITF Juniors, added in a chat with sports247.ng that she wants to erase all detrimental statements that have been trailing Nigerian tennis players over the years.
She declared: “I am inspired to do well for Nigeria and take the image of Nigeria high across Africa and the world.
“People are saying many funny things about Nigerian players, but I want to dismiss all that ugly talk about Nigeria and lift the country’s image.”
