Gold medal winner in the scrabble event of this year’s Bankers Games, Kazeem Odewale of UBA has outlined a strategy that could see him dominate the sport of words at a higher level.
Though it is his first time competing in the game, and he had to travel from Abeokuta to Lagos to be part of this year’s contest, Odewale said it was a worthwhile effort on his part.
He added in a chat with sports247.ng after being decorated with the gold medal that he also loved how he was able to make new friends during the multiple-sports competition among bank workers.
Odewale said, “It has been good. All has been very good. We’ve met different people from different banks.
“The competition is all about bonding, which has been strong in this tournament.
“This is my first time competing for UBA, and I’m happy that I won a gold medal.
“I am also happy for what I’ve seen in this tournament and for the motivation that I got from my bank.
“I appreciate the motivation they gave me, because I actually am not based in Lagos. I’m from Abeokuta, and I had to travel here just because of this game.”
Odewale concluded by restating his passion for scrabble and revealed the various steps he is already taking in order for him to be able to compete at a higher level.
“It’s what I have passion for, and I’m even thinking of going further in major scrabble events.
“I want to encourage myself and others to keep trying. Let’s keep training, and we’ll get there one day.
“You can even do online training on your own after work. You don’t have to play with someone else.
“You can train yourself how to do better in scrabble online, and you will get to a high level,” Odewale tutored.
