Seasoned Nigerian football coach, Bala Madaki has praised the Lagos State Football Association for concentrating on grassroots football development in the state.
Speaking with Sports247, Bala urged the remaining states to follow Lagos’ lead by laying emphasis on youth football.
The three-time winner of the Lagos State Principal Cup (in 2012, 2014 & 2016) believes that it will help lessen the desire of young players wanting to go abroad hurriedly.
“The Lagos State Football Association are doing well for the grassroots football,” Bala said. “I can recall last week they played Ekofootball U15 tournament at the Agege Stadium where we saw a lot of talented kids.
“To me the way Lagos state are recruiting the grassroots u13 and u15 is great and the way to move forward.
“If the other states can concentrate on grassroots football, things will get better. Young players will not desperately try to move to Europe.”
