The Badminton Federation of Nigeria BFN on Tuesday, kicked off a two-day Shuttle Time Nigeria Secondary Schools Physical Education teachers ‘Train the Trainers’ grassroots program in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The program which is taking place at the indoor hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium, had in attendance, twenty-three schools from Yenagoa and twenty-three Physical Education teachers and Games masters and mistresses.
Shuttle Time Nigeria Secondary Schools grassroots badminton project is designed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to teach P.E. teachers and game masters/mistresses, the basic skills of badminton.
In his remarks, the National Shuttle Time Coordinator, Coach Suleiman Tajudeen, said the essence of the program was to bring badminton to the grassroots, stating that the initiative would improve the sport in the various secondary schools in Bayelsa State.
He noted that with the revolution in Bayelsa sports, he is confident that Badminton stars would be produced from the various secondary schools in the state, stating that various game masters and mistresses have been taught the rudiments of the game.
Also, Mimi Onengiye, a certified Shuttle Time Tutor, asserted that the training was designed to teach kids in secondary schools the basics of badminton, noting that the Shuttle Time training will help to discover young talents in the grassroots.
She hinted that apart from the 23 schools that took part in the day one training, more schools would join the program tomorrow, stressing that she is pleased to bring badminton to the grassroots.

The event will continue tomorrow at the multi-purpose hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa by 10 am and is powered by the Community Sport Educational Development (CSED), Initiative.
