Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has concluded arrangements for the 2nd Mutual Benefits National Badminton Championship from November 6 to 10 at Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
The BFN disclosed in a press release made available to sports247.ng that the competition is open to all states across the federation and interested clubs in the country.
While over 250 players are expected to participate, the federation added that accommodation would be provided for all accredited participants.
President of the federation, Francis Orbih said players will compete in the men and women’s singles, men and women’s doubles as well as the mixed doubles at the tournament.
Orbih said prizes worth N2.67m would be competed for in the five-day event with the men and women singles winners receiving N150,000 each.
He added that first runners-up to 16th place finishers would also receive cash prizes, but no player would be allowed to play in more than two events to give room for more representation from competing teams.
Orbih added: “We are also pleased to announce the partnership deal with God Is Good Motors. This deal will have all accredited players travelling to attend the championship receiving 60 per cent discount on their fares at all GIG terminals across the country.
“We have also collaborated with an anti-doping consultant Femi Ayorinde, who is the former CEO of the National Anti-doping Committee. He will give a talk on the ills of doping on the opening day of the tournament.”
