In a bid to encourage and support grassroots football clubs in Badagry and its environs, the Chairman of Badagry Divisional Football Association, BDFA, Dr. Martins Osondu has announced a 50 percent reduction of club affiliation fees for the club owners.
In his statement this morning, Osondu stated that the division has fixed the sum of N20,000 for the affiliation fees for several years and noted that only a few grassroots club owners were able to pay their affiliation fees.

He revealed that the executive board members of BDFA recently met and agreed to reduce the affiliation fees from 20,000 to 10,000 to accommodate more clubs to register with the division.
“This is to officially inform the grassroots club owners under my division that we have reduced the affiliation fees from N20,000 to N10,000. This decision was agreed by the board members recently so that we can give room for more grassroots club owners to affiliate with us, ” he said.
Osondu disclosed that over 300 grassroots clubs are under his division but more than 70 clubs are affiliated. He said that affiliated clubs are too small considering the number of clubs in his division saying that the reduction fees would attract more clubs to come and pay their affiliation fees quickly.
“Frankly speaking most of these grassroots clubs don’t have sponsors and some of them are struggling to survive what we can do for them is to reduce the affiliation fees which we have done and assist them in our little way to survive.
During my administration, I will ensure that our affiliated clubs give necessary support to achieve their set targets,” he said.
