Babs Ogunade the former Chairman of Lagos State Basketball Association has been appointed as Chairman of Ogun State Basketball Association. This announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State during his reorganization and inauguration of the various sports associations in the state.
Ogunade, a highly experienced sports technocrat who is currently the Vice-President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, had until recently served as chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association for 21 years.
The new Ogun State basketball boss is a well-decorated former basketball player who was a member of the junior championship-winning team of Lagos in 1977, he is a University of Lagos (UNILAG) Hall of Fame (2005), Africa Basketball Hall of Fame (2012), and was captain of the NUGA team to the World Universities Game held in Romania in 1981.
On his new appointment, Ogunade said, “this is a call to service. Having served as chairman in Lagos for 21 years, anywhere I’m called, once it’s for basketball, it’s always a call to service. And it tells you that your contributions are not unnoticed.”
Meanwhile, encomiums have been pouring in for the referred sports administrator on his new portfolio. In its message, Friends of Nigeria Sports (FSN), described Ogunade, as a very experienced administrator and a passionate basketball person who is going to change the narratives of the game in Ogun State, for the better.
