Following the completion of the Day 3 game for the U-19 category of the ongoing PANASA/ Winifred Awosika Foundation African Youth Scrabble Championship, AYSC, Nigeria’s Ojih David maintains his top position on the standing.
Ojih continued from where he left off on Day 2 after he won 10 games and lost 2 at the round of 12.
The Nigerian youngster remained at the top after round 19 on Saturday after he increased his winning games to 15 and registered 4 losses with a plus 1833 cumulative spread.
The U-19 standing showed Nigeria’s Ola Joy determination to fight for the top position after she leapfrogged from the third position she was at Day 2 to second after the completion of Day 3.
She has 14 wins and 5 losses with a plus 995 score spread.
Nigeria’s Lateef Musa also threw his hat into the ring to be among the top three, pushing out Adeleke John who was to seventh.
Musa has 14 wins and 5 losses with a plus 994 score spread.
At the U-15 category, Archibong Prestige returned to the top of the standing after the completion of round 13 at the Day 3.
Prestige who dropped from the top position to fourth on Day 2, climbed to return to the top after maintaining a five game winning streaks during the game played at Chrisland school in Lagos.
He displaced Nigeria’s Ejenakevbe Ese from the top position to the second, sealing the top position after he defeated Ese 409- 355 in round of 14.
The current standing shows that Nigeria’s Ejenakevbe Ese sits at the second position while Aliu Qudus occupies the third position and Imode Clinton on the fourth position.
Elated by the comeback, Prestige said felt good with the result and the tournament.
“I feel happy and excited in the way the tournament is going because it is well organised and most especially seeing players from other country, participating in this tournament,” he said.
