Nigerian football legend Ayisat Yusuf has expressed her excitement over the success and widespread commendation of the SheFootball Conference, an initiative aimed at enlightening and empowering women footballers at the grassroots level.

The event featured a one-day tournament, the official launch of the Ayisat Yusuf Football Academy (FA), and a conference focused on educating Nigerian referees.
In a competitive atmosphere at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, DreamStar Ladies triumphed over Ayisat Yusuf FA to claim the championship title of the 2025 SheFootball A Day Tournament.
Eight women’s football clubs from Lagos participated in the tournament, which showcased intense competition and passion.
Renowned Austrian FIFA-badged referee, Sara Telet, shared her professional experiences during the conference and encouraged Nigerian referees to aim for excellence in their careers.
Yusuf described the event as a significant milestone in her efforts to give back to the grassroots, where young female footballers are nurtured and empowered. She emphasized the initiative’s role in giving the Girl Child a platform to shine and find her voice.
Reflecting on previous editions, she highlighted the discovery of notable talents who have gone on to represent Nigeria in various age-grade national teams. Yusuf also promised that future editions would bring even more innovations and opportunities for the Girl Child.
To support grassroots development, football boots, jerseys, and training kits were distributed to the eight participating clubs, underscoring the initiative’s commitment to fostering the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
