KAA Gent of Belgium flop, Taiwo Awoniyi has found his position in the team taken over by Crystal Palace striker, Alexander Sorloth.
Sports247.ng reports that, while Awoniyi is already in the hunt for a new club this month, Sorloth is expected to replace him at Gent on loan until the end of the season.
Awoniyi was at the weekend recalled by his parent club, Liverpool, who were dismayed with his inability to tie down a regular shirt with the club that has a history of several Nigerian stars over the years.
With Awioniyi failing to replicate the form he showed the previous season with another Belgian club, Royal Excel Mouscron, his place at Gent will now be filled by the Norwegian star, who moved to Selhurst Park from FC Midtjylland of Denmark 12 months ago.
Sorloth is replacing Awoniyi at Gent, though Palace coach, Roy Hodgson is searching for a striker in the January transfer window, and was close to signing Dominic Solanke.
However, Palace pulled out of the move for the Liverpool striker, who was said to have failed a fitness test but has since joined Bournemouth.
Dramatically, Sorloth is not faring much better than Awoniyi, as he has struggled for form since joining Palace, scoring just once in 19 matches.
