Awoniyi Orders Personal Engineer, Builders To Complete SWAN’s Secretariat In Ilorin

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has resumed work on the long-unfinished edifice of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kwara State chapter’s secretariat and media resource center.

On Thursday, Awoniyi sent his personal engineer and builders to the site located at the Kwara State Stadium, bringing renewed hope for its completion.

Despite numerous efforts by SWAN’s leadership over the years, the building remained unfinished.

Although several promises of assistance were made, tangible support was minimal. However, Awoniyi’s intervention signifies a major boost.

Following a guided tour of the unfinished building by members of the SWAN executive and the designated building engineer, Ismail Ayodeji, Chairman of the Sports Writers Guild, expressed profound gratitude to Awoniyi.

“Once again, he has demonstrated a rare commitment, understanding of the place of media in sports development and marketing,” Ayodeji stated.

When completed, the secretariat will serve not only as offices for sports writers but also as a comprehensive sports media hub aimed at promoting the business and development of sports in the state.

Strategically located within the Kwara State Stadium, which has the capacity to host over 32 sporting activities simultaneously, the Kwara SWAN office is envisioned to become a leading center for sports reporting in Nigeria.
