The Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS) has congratulates the Super Falcons of Nigeria on their victory over the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the final match of the 11th Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), Ghana 2018.
In a statement signed by the PRO NAWIS, Olufunke Kanjuni joined other sports loving Nigerians in saluting the heroic performance of the Super Falcons, winning their 8th title.
NAWIS commended the players for displaying uncommon strength, confidence and skill in their victory over the South Africa.
The association urged members of the team and their handlers to remain focused and dedicated even as they prepare for greater glory to Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France.
“We at NAWIS are proud of the Super Falcons of Nigeria for winning her 9th title. They have exhibited the Nigeria spirit despite stiff resistance from Cameroon and South Africa in the final.
“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the coaching crew and the supporters in Ghana played their role in ensuring the team performs well. This is the beginning of success for the female team”, the statement read.
NAWIS appealed to government and Sports loving Nigerians to supports women participating in sports.
