Captain of Rivers United, Festus Augustine has made known to fans of the club that his team has picked a valuable lesson from the ouster from the CAF Champions League.
Augustine made this known after the Garden City boys were humiliated out of the prestigious CAF Champions League.
According to the skipper, the team will approach the CAF Confederation Cup with plenty of education and will prosecute the second-tier continental competition with the experience gathered from the game against Wydad.
In his words, “They are a strong opponent. We are just coming from the Champions League which is the highest of it all in Africa and I think we have learned from our mistakes and it’s going to help us”.
Rivers United’s elimination from the CAF Champions League means no Nigerian Team will be in the group stages of the African elite competition as second Place Plateau also fell against Esperance of Tunisia.
Rivers United will take on the Libyan side, Al-Nasr in the playoffs of the CAF Confederations cup on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
