Smouha Basketball Club of Egypt are banking on the presence of their new signing, Augustine Okosun in their squad, as they begin their quest for glory in the new-look African Clubs Basketball League.

The Nigerian international will expect to hit the ground running from the outset in their Group D opener set for Antananarivo, Madagascar, with the former D-League player linking up with fellow-new arrival, Adamu Saaka at the Alexandria-based side, in attempt to secure victory.
Smouha are targeting one of two places in the group, where they will face hosts, Club Omnisport Police Nationale, Petro Atletico de Luanda from Angola and ASB Mazembe from Democratic Republic of Congo.
One of the Egyptian club’s star players, Marwan Sarhan said it is all about staying focused and bring their A-game to return home with a ticket in the Elite 8 knock out stage.
Sarhan said: “We are well prepared and our expectations are very high.
“We have the chance to compete at a higher level and we will rise to the challenge. We are taking every game at a time as a step closer to our target.
“I expect the team not to take any of the games for granted and we will get our message across right from the start.”
