Reports have it that following the announcement of José Paseiro on leaving his role as the Super Eagles coach, Former wingback and technical director, Augustine Eguavoen has been slotted in to fill the void.

The 58-year-old former Enyimba, Sunshine Stars, Bendel Insurance, Gombe United, COD United and Sharks head coach is now taking over the Super Eagles job again after winning bronze in the African Cup of Nations with the team in 2006 and also crashing out of in the Round of 16 in 2021.
This would be the fourth time Eguavoen would be appointed for the Super Eagles job, with the first being in 2005 on a caretaker basis, in 2010 replacing Lars Lagerback(Sweden) and in 2021, coming in for Gernot Rohr and now as a replacement for Jose Paseiro.
Eguavoen would now be looking to build on Jose Paseiro’s foundation laid at the team, pending the time a permanent appointment is made.
