The winner of the women’s 100m event at the National Athletic championship hosted in Benin, Edo state, Grace Nwokocha says that she has been “working hard” to make herself a champion.

Grace ran 11.02s to win the national championship and become Nigeria’s flag bearer at the World championship coming up next month in Oregon, United States.

The United States based athlete after winning the event said to journalists that “I have been working so hard with my coach and the coach in my school, coach Ross and I thank God that I am able to achieve this with a great time.”

When asked if anything has changed in her 6 months of staying in the US, Grace said nothing has.

“Nothing has, I have done the same thing I did before I traveled just couple of changes and working a lot on my start because I really need to better my start to make me run faster.”

On the World championship and Common Wealth games coming up next month and in August respectively, the 100m champion assured of a better performance at both events.

“Well it is a bigger stage, we will keep working hard and when we get there, we will do better.”

Grace and other top athletes of Team Nigeria will fly the country’s flag high next month at the World championship and the Common Wealth games in August at Birmingham, United Kingdom.
