The governor’s visit was part of his on-the-spot assessment of the venue’s final preparations for the opening ceremony of the 8th National Youth Games, scheduled for Thursday.
Governor Oborevwori’s presence at the stadium was met with applause from athletes who had gathered for the much-anticipated event. The Stephen Keshi Stadium, now sporting a fresh new look, is set to welcome over 5,000 athletes competing in various sports across the country.
Delta State officials, including the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, have emphasized that all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth and memorable event.
The Youth Games, which will run from September 9 to 19, are expected to be the biggest yet, with an emphasis on youth development and national unity through sports.
