Barcelona Femení striker Asisat Oshoala has won the Primera Iberdrola top scorer award after finishing the season on 20 goals.
The Super Falcons star featured in Barcelona’s last league game of the season, a 2-1 win over Rasheedat Ajibade’s Atletico de Madrid earlier today.
Despite failing to add to her tally, Oshoala finished the season as joint-top scorer in Spain’s women highest division, level on goals with Geyse Ferreira who plays for Real Madrid CF. Oshoala who missed eight weeks of action through injury, became the first Nigerian to win the Pichichi Trophy, the prize for the player with most goals in a season.
Irene Paredes and Aitana Bonmati scored both goals for Barcelona in the first half before Aitana Bonmati’s 64th minute strike for Atletico. Ajibade was a second half substitute for the away team.
Barça finished the season with 30 wins in 30 matches, with 159 goals scored and just 11 conceded. They made history as they became the first team in Spanish football history to win the league title with a perfect record.
Barcelona and Oshoala will now shift their focus to the Women’s Champions League Final against Lyon taking place next Saturday and the Copa de La Reina semi-final against Real Madrid four days later.
