It is heartbreak for the Super Falcons and Nigeria football lovers as top striker, Asisat Oshoala has been ruled out of the Women Africa Cup of Nations.
Asisat had to be substituted in the latter stages of the game against South Africa after she was caught by a South African defender in the early minutes of the first half in the 2-1 loss.
In a statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation via their official twitter handle, the striker is to travel to Spain for treatment.
“She (Asisat) sustained a grade 2 Medial collateral Ligament strain in the game against South Africa. She is due back in Spain on Thursday. Get well quick Asisat.”
This setback means the Super Falcons will be without their top two strikers at the on going tournament with Desire Oparanozie earlier withdrawing from the squad due to injury.
The Super Falcons play Botswana tomorrow in a must win game by 9pm Nigerian time.
