Despite being three-time champions, Toure expressed his belief that Nigeria is not among the favourites to win the continental championship next month.
He backed Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau to advance past the group stage and make significant strides in the competition.
Oshoala, a six-time Africa Women Player of the Year, expressed her disagreement with Toure’s assessment in a conversation with Brila FM.
She confidently asserted, “Talk is cheap. When we get to the tournament, we will separate the boys from the men.”
Backing Nigeria’s talented strikers, Oshoala highlighted the prowess of players like Victor Osimhen, referring to him as the “almighty Osimhen” and the best player in Africa.
She also mentioned the impressive performances of Boniface at the club level, emphasizing that Nigeria boasts a formidable team.
“I feel like we have a good team, and we have enough time to build up towards the tournament,” Oshoala added, expressing optimism about the Super Eagles’ chances at AFCON 2023.
Nigeria’s attacking lineup, featuring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, was further praised by Oshoala.
The 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year, Osimhen, emerged as the top scorer during the qualification campaign, netting ten goals in six games.
As the countdown to AFCON continues, Oshoala’s confidence in the Nigerian team sets the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
