In the fives male singles semifinals, Abubakar delivered a commanding performance, defeating his opponent from Borno with an impressive score of 41-1.

This victory sets him up for a gold medal match against Lagos in the male singles. Additionally, he will compete in the male doubles final against Bayelsa today, Sunday.

Fives, a sport that may not be widely known, is a handball game played in a court enclosed on three or four sides.

It involves two or four players who use their hands to strike a ball against the walls of the court. The game demands agility, precision, and quick reflexes, making it a thrilling and challenging sport.

There are different versions of the game, including Eton Fives and Rugby Fives, each with its unique rules and court designs.

Team Kano’s participation at the NYG extends beyond fives. They are also competing in swimming, with events taking place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, as well as in Taekwondo and shooting, both held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the same venue.

So far, Team Kano has secured a bronze medal in swimming and is looking to add more medals to their tally across various sports.

As the competition progresses, Team Kano remains determined to achieve their goals and bring home more medals, showcasing their talent and dedication at the 2024 National Youth Games.
