Asaba 2024: Judith Darusha Williams Celebrates Gold Medal Win in Taekwondo

Coach Judith Darusha Williams of the taekwondo team for Bayelsa State expressed her excitement as David Iniobong, one of her participants, won gold in the -51kg category taekwondo at the 8th National Youth Games.

Speaking with Sports247 in n interview, when asked about the significance of this win, Coach Williams said, “It means a lot. You know, as a civil servant, you have an assignment.

And if you don’t meet the target, nobody will look at you. They’ll just look at you as if you don’t know what you’re doing.

But when you are focused and you are determined, you will get what you are looking for. And I’m so proud of David Iniobong.

This is his first National Youth game. And he made us proud. And I believe he will still do the same thing again next time.

I am so proud. And I’m proud of my governor. He did us well. And we are very good. And we will give him very good results.”

Coach Williams explained that each state was allowed four participants for taekwondo, covering both poomsae and kuregi events.

David Iniobong’s victory came in the -51kg kuregi category. She also mentioned having fighters in the -47kg and -37kg categories and is hopeful for more gold medals.

Her enthusiasm and pride in her team’s achievements highlight the dedication and hard work put into preparing for the games.
