ASABA 2024: I Was Not Good Enough To Win Any Medal, Bayelsa State Swimmer Tamaramilebi Tobi Confesses

A swimmer from Bayelsa State, Tobi Tamaramilebi came out with a surprise revelation after failing to win a medal at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, saying it was simply because he is not good enough.

Rather than seek excuses or blame anyone for his inability to shine in the 200m individual medley (IM) at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Tamaramilebi disclosed in a chat with sports247.ng that he is still a greenhorn in swimming.

The youngster pointed out that he indeed loves swimming but, since he only began training in November, he has to work harder before he can start winning medals.

“I picked swimming because I love it, but I am just coming up. I am aiming high, and I want to go far, but I could not get a medal here.

“My target is to become first in the next competition that I attend. It’s not because I did not get enough training,I am not just good enough

“I am just coming up. I joined the team in November of last year, but others have been training for long. I will do better next time,” the humble lad predicted.

Tamaramilebi also refrained from blaming his setback on the training scheme of the Bayelsa State contingent would but ended by expressing optimism that his teammates will end up with many medals.
