When asked about her experience at the event, Fatima expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s been fantastic, amazing. Last year, we won the gold medal in the competition, while the boys won the silver. This year, the boys have won gold, and the girls won silver.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, she attributed their success to the support from the governor and rigorous training.
“The governor approved what the players need. So, we will play well because the governor treats us well. We have a lot of training, a lot of challenges, playing matches between us because of coming this year and winning this year.”
Despite the exchange in positions for both teams this year, Fatima remains positive and proud of her team’s efforts. “I’m happy. At least we’re going home with a medal again this year.”
Looking ahead, Fatima has ambitious plans. “The future means we are going to the national competition, the main national, not youth game. Honestly speaking, that is the future of this sport.”
Fatima’s dedication and optimism underline the bright future of Team Kano Fives and their potential to excel in national competitions.
