Delta State Football Association (DFA) Chairman, Godwin Adode who took his time to watch the remaining two games with other sports stakeholders in the state, urged Team Delta to strive for outright victory in their upcoming match against Team Plateau at the National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba 2024.
Adode emphasized the importance of winning, saying, ‘I charge you all to go for victory and make Delta State proud. We have the talent and the skill, now it’s time to showcase it and bring home the gold.’
In a thrilling match, Team Delta came from behind to defeat Team Edo 2-1. Edo took the lead when Osaro Dickson scored with a dominant run, but Team Delta’s persistence paid off when Samuel Anthony equalized with a thumping header from a corner kick. Justin Obokoro then scored the winner with a perfectly executed set piece, securing the victory for Team Delta.
In other matches, Obasi Mohamed’s goal gave Team Adamawa a 1-0 win over Team Imo, while Team Oyo defeated Team Taraba 3-1.
Today’s Saturday fixtures are:
– Plateau vs. Delta – 1 pm
– Abia vs. Imo – 2:30 pm
– Osun vs. Taraba – 4 pm
The female categories are expected to kick off today, Saturday.
