Asaba 2024: Aidan Dumuje Shines at the 8th National Youth Games With Multiple Gold Medals

13-year-old Aidan Dumuje Abili of Team Delta has once again demonstrated his exceptional swimming talent by securing gold medals at the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba.

This victory marks his second time competing in the Youth Games, following an impressive performance last year where he won three individual gold medals and one silver in the relay event.

In an interview with Sports247, Aidan shared his experiences and thoughts about his journey
“Last year, I won three individual gold medals and one silver relay medal. This year, by God’s grace, I’ve won three individual gold medals again, and this time, a gold relay medal.”

His consistent performance highlights his dedication and hard work, which he attributes to his strategic preparation and countless hours of training.

Aidan expressed his gratitude for his achievements, noting that his victories reflect the culmination of his efforts and perseverance.

“Winning so far means a lot to me. It shows how far I’ve come and that all my hard work, and sleepless nights of planning and strategizing for my races, have paid off.”

He also emphasized the significant role his mother plays as his role model, providing constant support and encouragement throughout his athletic journey.

“My mother is my role model. She encourages me a lot, helps me through everything, and takes me to training.”

In addition to swimming, Aidan has a diverse athletic background, participating in various sports such as athletics, football, basketball, and tennis.

He mentioned that if he weren’t swimming, he might have pursued athletics, inspired by his mother’s background as a runner.
