In a remarkable showcase of talent at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, GodsMind Eteng clinched the gold medal in the 1500 meters athletics event, bringing pride and celebration to Cross River State.

In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Eteng reflected on her journey to gold, expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering support of key figures in her state.
“I want to thank God for this victory. Without His guidance, I wouldn’t be here today. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, for his continuous support of our athletes,” Eteng said, brimming with pride.
Eteng was quick to acknowledge the backing of the sports community in Cross River, mentioning individuals such as Hon. Agnes Atsu, the Commissioner of Sports, SA, Mr. Ekanem Ekpenyong, SSA Mr. Lawrence Etta, Mr. Moses Agbor, and Mr. Samuel Egbala.
“Their encouragement and the infrastructure they’ve built have been crucial to my development as an athlete,” she added.
But her deepest thanks went to her father, Mr. Nelson Eteng, who has been her coach since childhood. “I dedicate this gold medal to my father and to God. They have both shaped my journey.”
