Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has maintained his position on May ITTF ranking while his African counterpart Omar Assar of Egypt took a dive.
Quadri gained some points to preserve his ranking as the 23rd rated player in the world after reaching the round of 32 of the men’s singles at the 2019 ITTF World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
On the other hand, Egypt’s Omar dropped from 47th to 53rd following his first round exit at the World Championships.
Similarly, Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo dropped from 126 to 136, but will hope to better his ranking when he competes at the ITTF Challenge Serbia Open this month.
Omotayo is one of the seeded players at the tournament and will face Russia’s Petr Fedotov in the first round of the $30,000 worth championship.
Meanwhile, China’s Fan Zhendong remains at the top of the rankings despite a fourth round exit in the World Championship.
Medalists in Budapest, China’s Ma Long and Liang Jingkun, alongside Sweden’s Mattias Falck and An Jaehyun of Korea Republic, soar in the men’s ranking.
Ma Long made a major progress from 11th to 6th while his Chinese counterpart climbed from 9th to 6th. Similarly, runners-up Mattias Falck advanced from no. 16 to no. 11, while An Jaehyun made an unprecedented progress from no. 157 to no. 73.
