Arsenal of England youth team goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo is stalling on a decision that would commit him to Nigeria’s under-20 team, Flying Eagles.
Okonkwo is one of the Lads Flying Eagles’ coach, Paul Aigbogun is banking on for this month’s WAFU U-20 Cup in Lome, Togo, but sports247.ng gathered that he is dragging feet on his decision to be or not.
Okonkwo is yet to give a definite answer to the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) regarding his involvement with the Nigeria U20 team.
Okonkwo has been lined up for invitation to the team who are preparing for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations but they need assurances from the youngster who has trained severally with the first team of Arsenal before officially inviting him.
However, he appears keen on continuing his career with England where he has played from U16 to U18s. He is presently the first choice goalkeeper of the English U18 team.
The youngster is highly rated at Arsenal, where his height of 6ft 5in makes him a top tip for a bright future, which has also spurred Aigbogun in seeking him to switch allegiance.
