Joe Aribo stuns in the weekend match between Southampton vs Birmingham City.
It was a very eventful afternoon for the Saints, as they travelled to the Saint Andrews stadium to take on Mark Venus’ Birmingham City in the English Championship.
Southampton had to come from behind twice during the game,with Birmingham City reduced to ten men.
It all looked set for a draw,until Taylor Harwood-Bellis headed down a corner kick in the 96th minute and Joe Aribo stroked the ball beautifully into the bottom left corner to claim the three points for the Saints.
Aribo’s Southampton are still fourth,but now two points adrift of third placed Leeds United,who dropped points to Huddersfield Town.
The 27 year old Nigerian midfielder has now scored his fifth goal in 45 appearances for Southampton,and here’s what manager Russell Martin had to say on the game;
“I’d rather not win in the last minute, but it’s down to togetherness and spirit, and also the amount of work.
“They make teams have to run really, really hard. It tires people out.
“To play the way we play you have to be a bit vulnerable sometimes with the ball.
It’s a bit scary. But I’ve loved watching it. And that spirit will help us for sure in the last quarter of the season.”
