Residents of the vibrant Arepo community in Ogun State recently came together to celebrate a sports festival that united them in an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.

Arepo, situated along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan expressway corridor, organized the sports festival as a means to foster unity and camaraderie among its diverse residents.

Ibinabo Dickson, the Women Leader of Arepo CDC, highlighted the importance of such gatherings, especially for children who are often away in boarding schools during the academic year.
She emphasized that the festival allowed all the children in the community to come together, have fun, build friendships, and get to know one another.
Rahmat Oviesa, Vice Chairman of Arepo CDC, stressed the significance of creating lasting bonds within the community.
She described the event as an end-of-summer activity that served the dual purpose of strengthening relationships between parents and children while fostering unity within the community.
The festival proved to be more than just a day of fun and games, as many young residents secured prizes and medals in various game categories, showcasing their talents and competitive spirit.
Olasumbo Jasanya, the Scrabble champion, expressed her desire for the festival to become an annual tradition, underscoring the positive impact it could have on the community.
Olabanji Akindunni, an Esports expert present at the event, highlighted the tremendous global potential of gaming, emphasizing that it is a rising phenomenon with enormous opportunities.
Several residents commended the educative aspect of the games played at the festival, noting that they help sharpen children’s focus and cognitive abilities as they prepare to return to school.
Ganiyu Kazeem, Chairman of the Arepo CDC, highlighted the festival’s role in unearthing talents within the community. He expressed the community’s commitment to identifying and nurturing these talents, ensuring they receive the exposure they deserve.
