When asked about her experience in the tournament, Idowu attributed her performance to divine grace and team support. “Everything is done by God’s grace. Our strength, the motivation of our teammates, it has been a good one. It’s not by my doings,” she shared with Sports247.
Regarding their expectations for the game, Idowu remained confident despite early challenges. “Of course! There were challenges though, from the beginning, they did give us a tough time but as the game kept progressing, we knew that we were going to cover up. They usually give us a tough time, so that’s not new to us.”
Reflecting on the tournament, Idowu identified the toughest team they’ve faced so far. “The team that usually gives us a tough time the most is Road Safety, and they’ll be our final match. The teams we’ve played so far, some do give us a tough time from the beginning, but we always end up equalizing, they don’t usually beat us.”
Idowu mentioned that the team has only lost one match. “We lost our first match against Wima Queens. We can say it’s because of fatigue as it was our first match. Since then, we’ve not lost any of our games.”
With two more games remaining, Idowu is optimistic about their chances. “We’re stretching high because we know what is at stake right now. Tomorrow’s match, we need to win it to remain in second position. Road Safety is at the top of the league table, and they are our last opponents. We are looking forward to victory in that match.”
Abdulrazaq Idowu’s impressive performance and the team’s resilience highlight the competitive spirit of the Defender Babes in the Ardova Handball Premier League Phase II. With their eyes set on maintaining their position and securing victories in the remaining matches, the team is poised for a strong finish in the tournament.
