Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has claimed that any coach would be pleased to have Ademola Lookman on his team following the winger’s great start to the current season.
Lookman continued his impressive form for the high-flying Atalanta on Sunday, scoring in the club’s 2-0 Serie A win over Empoli. The 25-year-old has now scored five times in the first twelve league matches of the season.
Atalanta manager Gasperini has nothing but praise for Lookman and claims that any coach would be pleased with the Nigerian international.
“Lookman has scored five goals and always gave a strong contribution to the team,” Gasperini said of the former RB Leipzig player. “He has technique and pace. He is a player any coach would be happy with. We realised pretty quickly what he was capable of, he was convincing from the start.”
After twelve rounds of matches, Atalanta is second in Serie A, trailing only Victor Osimhen’s Napoli. Both teams will meet on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash.
“No fear, but great admiration. They are an extraordinary team. They brought in great talents and there is this marvellous enthusiasm around them,” Gasperini said of Saturday’s opposition.
“Mind you, last season it looked like that too and then fell away, so they’ll be crossing their fingers the same doesn’t happen again.”
