Anthony Joshua’s Potential World Mega Bout Showdown With Tyson Fury Edges Ever Closer As Eddie Hearn Reveals Only Small Details Remains Unsolved

Eddie Hearn has revealed talks are progressing quickly on a deal for Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The Matchroom promoter has held positive discussions with Bob Arum, who works with Fury, following Joshua’s ninth-round stoppage of Kubrat Pulev and Hearn has now revealed there are only a few small issues to iron out’ before contracts are drawn up.

“We all acknowledge this is the biggest fight in boxing, this is the best fight for both guys,’ Hearn said, according to the Sun. ‘This is for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. Why are you in the sport, if you don’t want this fight?”

Asked if there were any sticking points for what would be the biggest fight in years, Hearn was dismissive of potential problems ahead.

“Just trying to solve any remaining issues of the fight, of which there aren’t many, to be honest with you,” he added.

“We’re trying to move forward collectively to let the governing bodies know we plan to stage this fight probably in May and would like this to be for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.”

“There are a few small issues to iron out but I think we can start looking at drawing up contracts and try to get this moving.”

One of the issues that need sorting is the broadcasting arrangement for the fight.

The broadcasting complication is that Joshua is signed to Sky and DAZN, while Fury is with BT and ESPN.

Hearn believes it is a moot point as the ‘worst-case scenario’ is that all broadcasters share the pay-per-view rights.

The first fight expects to generate 2.2m pay-per-view buys.

Another potential roadblock on Fury’s side is the legal dispute over Deontay Wilder’s claim to a rematch with the Gypsy King, which Fury’s team believes is invalid.
