Joshua addressed Ngannou saying, “As I said, don’t let this discourage you, don’t let success get to your head and you should never let failures get to your heart.” He further added, “I think you’re an asset to boxing and he is an asset to the fight game don’t be discouraged and I respect you a lot regardless and I said it before and I still stand on it, I know we had to fight so I just told him keep your head high.”
Recognizing Ngannou’s roots and his efforts for the African community, Anthony Joshua expressed his desire to collaborate, “He’s from Cameroon and I think He’s got his charity and his organisation, also people that are trying to make it from Africa to different continents, people that are struggling, I just said I want to link up with him and see if we can do some good work for the African community as well.”
Ngannou’s reaction to Joshua’s words was humble, “I think he wasn’t fully aware of what I’m saying but his team took it on board but I think he took the part where I’m just like, keep your head high, don’t let this shade all, everything that you’ve been through and everything that’s yet to come in your career.”
These words of encouragement and unity from Anthony Joshua not only highlight the sportsmanship in boxing but also the potential for athletes to make a significant impact beyond the ring.
