British Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua has admitted defeat following his bitter loss against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk confessing that his emotions got the better of him in the highly anticipated rematch.
Joshua lost his temper after losing his rematch to Oleksandr Usyk and reacted angrily by throwing two belts and arguing with his team as he stormed out of the ring only to come back to give a scathing speech.
Oleksandr Usyk secured a second consecutive victory over him to defend the unified WBO, WBA and IBF titles.
But taking to his verified twitter handle, Joshua accepted to letting himself down in a post which read;
“I wish @usykaa continued success in your quest for greatness. You are a class act champ.”
“Yesterday I had to mentally take myself into a dark place to compete for the championship belts! I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my emotions and both got the better of me.”
‘I’ll be the first to admit, I let my self down. I acted out of pure passion and emotion and when not controlled it ain’t great.”
“I love this sport so so much and I’ll be better from this point on,” he vowed.
