Three Nigerian-born players were on fire with goal in the lower divisions of English soccer at the weekend, as Chuks Aneke, Josh Maja and Fred Onyedinma all made hay.
With their more popular and top stars of the English Premier League away on international duty and a break occasioned as such in the to-flight, Aneke, Maja and Onyedinma ensured there was still a lot to talk about in other climes.
Such it was that Aneke was on target for MK Dons, as his team got three points on an evening he scored his seventh goal in nine games during a 2-0 win against visiting Macclesfield Town.
After a goalless first half, the former Arsenal youth team player broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when he curled home past the goalkeeper, after receiving a pass on the edge of the box.
On his part, Maja took his tally for the season to eleven goals in all competitions after finding the net for Sunderland in a 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers.
Before Maja struck, Onyedinma was on target in the 67th minute, as he connected a free-kick in the box and lashed home to give the visitors the lead.
However, six minutes from time, Maja controlled a low cross inside the area before sending the ball home and became the first teenager to score 10 league goals in the top four tiers of English football this season.
