The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) yesterday paid a condolence visit to the Chairman of Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) Rev Fr Obinna Dike on the occasion of the burial of his late father, John Nwakozo Dike at St Anthony’s Catholic Church Enugu-Ukwu.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of Anambra State Football Association Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi who described the late John Dike as a pioneer football stakeholder in our state who raised his children in a responsible manner and love for the round leather game.
We are here today to condole with one of us, Fr Obinna Dike who is burying his father, John Dike, today. I have always wondered where and how Fr got his passion for football. But today, I know the answer. Late Dike was one of the pioneer football stakeholders in our state, he played, managed and supported this game he loved so much. So it only makes sense that the football family will be here to pay our last respect to a man that we admire for his passion for this sport we love so much. As I pray for God to grant him eternal rest, I also wish God to equally give the Dike family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
The proprietor of DOSAD FA, Fr Dike thanked the Football Secretariat for the kind gesture of being and identifying with them on this very special occasion. He prayed to God to be with them as they departed back to Awka.
