The Nigeria Football Federation 78th AGA/Elective Congress held in Benin City, Edo state saw Ibrahim Gusau emerge as the new NFF president while other zones produced members on the NFF Executive Committee board with the exclusion of the South-East zone.
The elections to produce two board members from the southeast were put on hold after Enyimba FC Chairman, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu emerged as the First Vice President of the NFF, leaving the zone with one more slot.
Chairman of the Anambra Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has however urged southeast Football stakeholders to remain calm as they would not be short changed.
“I wish to state that the situation is under control. We only have to remain calm and prayerful. The South East will definitely not be short changed. We are going to have our two representatives on the board just like every other zone. What happened in Benin is only a temporary setback which would be corrected soon, very soon,” Chikelue said.
The chairman also took the time to congratulate the newly elected NFF a president as well as the administrative board while stating his belief in them.
“I wish to felicitate with the new NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and the new Board of the Nigerian Football Federation. I believe that this present administration can take our football to greater heights,” he concluded.
