Amuneke said as much in the wake of The Naze Millionaires’ 2-0 loss to Ikorodu City of Lagos, which left his team drifting in 12th place on the NPFL log, while their hosts moved up to sixth spot.
The former Super Eagles’ winger and 1994 African Footballer of The Year admitted that he was not happy with the result but conceded that he had to commend his players for the huge fighting spirit they showed during the fixture.
He retorted, “When the result never goes your way, you have to go back and reflect. I never enjoyed the result, but I must recognise the efforts of the boys. We were able to play good football, but some key moments that we lost concentration affected us.
Such moments make a difference in football.”
Amuneke then turned his focus on the team’s next match and acknowledged the need to keep encouraging his players so that they would stay committed and put in more effort that should yield better results.
“Even if we had won this game, we would still have to go back to review ourselves and look at the areas that we can continue to strengthen,” the former coach of Tanzania’s national team reasoned tactically.
