Olympic Eagles coach, Imama Amapakabo has downplayed criticism of the arrivals of Francis Odinaka Uzoho, Chidozie Awaziem, Victor Osimhen and Valentine Ozornwafor into his team for the second leg of their Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
Sports247.ng can report that Amapakabo is not feeling any qualms over the need to deploy Awaziem and the others from the Super Eagles, as he insists they were all meant to be part of his squad in the first place.
While many pundits fear the quartet could upset the under-23 team’s structure, Amapakabo stressed that they are all still within the age limit and will add more depth to his side.
Amapakabo stated: “We decided to draft these players in because from the onset they were supposed to be part of the plan.
“(They were left out initially) because we wanted to give other players opportunities. These guys are professional and are adapting very fast.”
