Nigeria National Under 23 Head Coach, Imama Amamakpabo has described untrue a rumour circulating in some section of the media that Taiwo Awoniyi is currently injured and therefore he would not be available for Wednesday’s U23 AFCON qualifier against Libya, Imama informs sports247.ng.
Former El Kanemi Warriors handler while addressing the media along with the Technical Adviser Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr in Lagos shortly after MFM 2-0 victory against Bendel Insurance said, “It was from you Media guys that I learnt that Taiwo Awoniyi was injured and when I called him he said it was not true. Taiwo Awoniyi was not injured and will part of the team that will fly out to Tunisia tomorrow for the match against Libya,” . I wonder who peddle such rumour amongst you guys
It would be recalled that a local media reported that Awoniyi was forced out of his team’s last game at home against Saint Truiden in the 75th minute on account of injury and therefore he would not be part of Imama led team on Wednesday.

All things being equal, Awoniyi is on the list of Belgian club Royal Excel Mouscron for Sunday’s final game of the regular season at champions Club Brugge.
The former under 17 goal poacher and Liverpool loanee has netted seven goals and provided an assist in eight league appearances for Mouscron and former Enugu Rangers League winners is banking on the experience of the gangling striker.
