Honourable Ehis Iyoho, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Youth and Social Mobilization, has praised soccer as a tool for fostering peace.
He commended retired professionals football who came out in mass and supporters of Governor Sheriff Oborewovori for their efforts in maintaining peace in the state.
“Mobilizing like-minded individuals is key to my role as Special Assistant on Youth and Social Mobilization,” Iyoho said.
“Sustaining peace requires continuous effort, and I’m proud to be part of this process.”
In the match, Osubi Allstars, led by Ohis Iyoho (known as Mr. Favourite), held the Delta Selected Allstars to a 2-2 draw.
The Selected Allstars team featured over three former Super Eagles players and top ex international and NPFL talents.
Comrade Fred Sheriff Oborewovori, the Governor’s son, attended the event and expressed his support. He praised the conduct and camaraderie among the crowd.
The Selected Allstars took the lead in the first half, thanks to two goals one assisted by former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje’s and another of his world-class dribbling of the opponent defenders and the goal keeper with an easy slot. John Akime and Azubike Egwuekwe supported Sodje’s efforts to show the experience of the selected side.
However, Osubi Allstars fought back, equalizing and securing a thrilling 2-2 draw but lost on penalty shootout.
