Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has revealed that the technical crew have plans to give other goalkeepers the chance to compete for a shirt in the national team.
Agu while speaking to Sports247.ng on the goalkeeping department ahead of this weekend’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya noted that they want the department to be stiffer.
“The goalkeeper position is a very delicate one on the field of player. Anyone saddled with such responsibility is a like the store keeper who must make sure everything is intact without any loss or shortage. The goalkeeper performs the role of the guard,” Alloy Agu revealed in a chat with Sports247.ng.
Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi are the keepers that have been relied upon for the Libya games by coach Gernot Rohr and Agu explained that more will be given the chance to prove their mettle for the Super Eagles
“The technical crew intends to invite more keepers to compete with those ones we have on ground.”
“The aim is to make the position highly competitive and put everyone on their toes at any point in time.”
The ex international added that they are primed to getting only the best for Nigeria.
“We want the best to represent the Super Eagles at any point in time and won’t hesitate to improve the situation on ground.”
