Nigeria’s biggest football academy, Kanu International Football Academy (KIFA) is set to hold the maiden edition of its football league for players in its academies spread across the country.
KIFA, with Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu, as its chairman, has over 2,350 players in 126 centers across the 36 states and FCT, Abuja. And it is acknowledged as the largest and fastest-growing football academy in sub-Saharan Africa by football aficionados.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of KIFA, Prince Dapo Ajibade, the Lagos Youth League is expected to give the talented and starry-eyed youngsters in its ever-growing talents pool, the opportunity to showcase their talents on a competitive stage.
” These young lads have been undergoing various fundamental and developmental training in our various centers across the country for the past three years since the birth of KIFA.
” Reports from the technical department of KIFA indicated the need to engage these lads in competitive tournaments. It would be an opportunity for them to display their innate skills, as well as, exhibit the uniquely different technical, tactical, and discipline they have learned over the years, ” Ajibade, a former Chairman of Sunshine Stars of Akure and Ondo State Football Agency explained.
The KIFA Lagos Youth League which is expected to begin May 20, 2021, will feature 8 teams from centers in Lagos. They include Ajegunle, Agege, Badagry, Epe, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Ikorodu and Gbagada.
