Following his side’s 1-0 loss in the 3rd place match of the just concluded ‘Game on’ football competition, Coach of Freiburgerweg FA, Ayere Sylvester has stated that all he always wished for his team is for them to play good football, regardless of whether they lose or not.
Freiburgerweg FA lost the third-place match 1-0 at the Soccer Temple Stadium in Agege, to make it a back to back loses in the competition after they had earlier lost to Urimi Fc of Port Harcourt in the previous match.
In a chat with Sports247 after his team’s loss in the 3rd place match, Coach of Freiburgerweg FA, Ayere Sylvester admitted that he cared less about his team losing, as losing is not new to him, and that even though he wished to win, all he always wanted was his team to play good football, which everyone would be happy to watch.
“Well, me losing is not new to me. It’s not that I can’t play tactics that will give me the victory. I know that winning boosts the confidence of a team, but I wanted them to play good football and score good goals, not the negative kind of football. I know it’s going to be difficult for them because they (the players) might lose concentration, which happened in the game against Remo Stars and in most of our matches, they lost concentration in the second half, which is the most difficult problem for most players”, he stated.
While still speaking, the amazing Coach admitted the deficiencies of his squad, stating that he needs more players to his team to help increase his squad debt, as they prepare to play subsequent games and competitions, which has prompted him to use a certain set of players constantly to execute their matches.
“It’s all about hard work, there is a great task ahead, which is for us to compete and achieve great things”.
“My squad debt is very very poor. I have overstretched my back four a lot. I don’t have a substitute for them. It’s the same back four and goalkeeper that I have been playing often and constantly in our games, which is very wrong and against football principles, but this is a new club which was created just last two years, and I believe that with time when everything settles, We will get the needed players, with discipline, hunger and focus to fit into the team and execute matches for us, so as to give some rest to our stressed players,” he emphasized.
Ayere Sylvester finally concluded that he wasn’t happy with players of Urimi Fc of Port Harcourt going down so easily in the game. He labeled it as time-wasting which was a poor style of winning a game, stating that players should be ready to play on till 90 minutes of the game and stop the delay tactics if they are really a good team.
