Vladimir Petkovic, a seasoned coach with extensive experience, has been selected to lead the Fennec Foxes forward.
The 60-year-old Bosnian manager brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having previously served as the head coach of Switzerland’s national team for seven years from 2014 to 2021.
Petkovic’s appointment comes with high expectations, as he is tasked with revitalizing the Algerian team and restoring them to their former glory.
The goal is to replicate the success of 1990 and 2019 when Algeria triumphed in the AFCON tournament.
Additionally, Petkovic has been entrusted with the responsibility of guiding Algeria through the qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With his two-year contract set to run until July 2026, Petkovic will have ample time to implement his strategies and mould the team according to his vision.
The official announcement of Petkovic’s appointment is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 21, following a federal office meeting.
Algerian football fans eagerly await the unveiling of their new head coach and are hopeful that Petkovic’s leadership will usher in a new era of success for the national team.
