Kwara United of Ilorin striker, Segun Alebiosu has declared that he wants to help his side win the pre-season Gold Cup in Akure, which he says is of more importance to him than taking home the top scorer’s prize, sports247.ng reports.
Although the former Niger Tornadoes of Minna star admits he loves scoring and is happy to have three already in the competition, he insists getting to Saturday’s final and helping The Harmony Boys win it is top of his mind, not any personal ambition or standing out individually.
After scoring twice in a 3-1 victory against Phoenix FC, Alebiosu said he is excited with his form, but insists team work and collective glory are top of his kind.
Alebiosu said: “I am delighted to have scored two goals in the Gold Cup Tourney, and in the race for the top scorer’s award.
“My desire is to lift the Gold Cup Tourney trophy come November 24th and not an individual award.
“Winning it will boost our confidence level going into the new Nigeria Professional Football League season. I have vowed to score more goals too.”
