First vice-president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has backed Super Eagles’ handler, Gernot Rohr to put an end to the country’s inability to qualify for the past two editions of the Afirca Cup of Nations.
Heading into the next AFCON 2019 qualifier against Libya this weekend in Uyo, Akinwunmi told sports247.ng that he is sure that Rohr will be able to banish the days of Nigeria’s slumber in the race to past editions of AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Akinwunmi admitted that Nigeria has faced back-to-back setbacks in AFCON qualifiers, which has seen the Eagles fail to make it there in quick succession, but says that story will change under Rohr.
Akinwunmi stressed: “I have immense confidence in the ability of Rohr to rewrite the narratives about Nigeria’s inability of qualifying for the AFCON.
“I believe that the story will change this time, as far as getting to AFCON 2019 in concerned.”
